Over the past six months, we’ve been working with Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust on an exciting partnership.
AI medical scribes are a relatively new technology, and implementing one in a hospital is far from a routine process. We’ll discuss what leads to a partnership like this.
The Power of a Product-Led Approach
At its core, Lyrebird is a product-led company. Our growth happens organically because our product solves real problems. For many doctors, the burden of clinical documentation is a real problem.
Case in point: A surgeon from Alder Hey visiting a colleague in Australia observed them using Lyrebird in clinic with patients. Immediately recognising its impact, the surgeon brought the idea back home. Word spread quickly, and soon there was interest among his colleagues and leadership team. That single interaction with the product has lead to a whole NHS Trust solving a major challenge.
This grassroots enthusiasm is exactly how we aim to make a real impact – by solving pressing problems that clinicians face every day.
The Implementation Process
Before a solution like Lyrebird can be implemented, there’s a significant period of security and clinical governance checks. Alder Hey’s governance team needed to ensure the technology and data would be safe, and aligned with their safety policies in addition to UK laws. Meanwhile, the IT department had to confirm that it would integrate seamlessly without introducing unnecessary complexity.
Once the due diligence process was complete, we collaborated with Alder Hey to design a tailored rapid rollout plan. The phased approach ensured a smooth adoption across the hospital, enabling clinicians to integrate Lyrebird seamlessly without impacting patient care. Needless to say, the Lyrebird word spread rapidly across the hospital which has resulted in over 20% of the hospitals clinical staff currently on the waiting list.
Every time we work with a new hospital, we learn more about what works and what doesn’t. Our priority is building the best team to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience for our clients when adopting new technology.
